Gallery Forty-Two is thrilled to host this years SALI National Abstract Art Exhibition XXI to our historical downtown Indianapolis venue. As an annual staple of the Midwest fall art calendar, this highly anticipated juried competition brings the premiere contemporary voices in two-dimensional abstract painting straight to the heart of Indy.

This year, celebrated juror Abby Leon evaluated 114 submissions from across six states (Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Oregon, and Wisconsin). From this competitive pool, only 40 exceptional works were chosen to hang on our historic gallery walls, crating an exquisite display of modern style, visual depth, and diverse artistic techniques.

Whether you are a seasoned collector looking to acquire a piece of art or an art enthusiast immersing yourself in contemporary abstractions, this collection offers something truly unforgettable.

Opening Night Reception & Awards

When: Friday, October 2, 2026 | 6:00pm - 8:00pm

What: Celebrate the official launch of the exhibition! Enjoy light refreshments, mingle with the regional artists, and be there live as over $2,000 in cash prices and awards are presented to this year's top entries.

Admission: Free and open to the public!

When: Ongoing through the exhibition (October 2nd to November 6th)

What: Art is a conversation between the creator and the viewer. Every guest to Gallery Forty-Two is invited to vast a physical ballot for their favorite abstract piece. The People's Choice Award winner will be calculated and announced at the conclusion of the show.

Collector's Notes: Art for Sale

Every piece in the SALI Exhibition XXI is original and available for purchase.
Abstract art is a stunning addition to corporate offices, modern homes, and private collections. Fine art collectors are strongly encouraged to attend the opening weekend and book an early viewing for the premier selection of available pieces.
